3-YEAR-OLD RESCUED FOLLOWING HIGH-SPEED CHASE

We have more information on a Perris man arrested in Yucca Valley last week, accused of failing to yield to deputies.  On Thursday (January 27) around 11:30 p.m., deputies reportedly initiated a vehicle pursuit at the intersection of Twentynine Palms Highway and Barberry Ave in Yucca Valley. According to a Sheriff’s press release, the vehicle fled from deputies at speeds over 115 miles per hour east through Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree. Spike strips were deployed, and the vehicle became disabled. A three-year-old juvenile was rescued by deputies from the vehicle. The suspect, identified as Marquice Colter, 27, was taken into custody without incident. Marquice Colter was arrested for investigation of felony failure to yield, child endangerment, driving without a license, and suspected DUI and booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $100,000.
