A Twentynine Palms man was arrested for investigation into torture after evading law enforcement for several weeks.

On the morning of May 23, County Sheriff’s Deputies say that they responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 73000 block of Twentynine Palms highway. When they arrived, they say they found a female victim who was choked, punched, and whipped with a cable by her boyfriend, Ricky Parnell, a 36 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms. The victim was taken to High Desert Medical Center for her injuries.

After the incident, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Parnell.

On Friday, June 23, officers from the Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Detail located Parnell as he got into a vehicle near the 6000 block of Abronia Ave in Twentynine Palms. They initiated a traffic stop, and he was taken into custody.

Ricky Parnell was arrested for investigation of torture and booked into the West Valley Detention Center on $50,000 bail.
