29 PALMS TEEN RECOVERING AFTER SHOOTING SELF IN LEG

A Twentynine Palms teenager is recovering after shooting himself in the leg. On Monday (February 7) evening, just before 7 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 6500 block of Smoke Tree Avenue in Twentynine Palms for a report of gunshots fired. A press release states that deputies learned a 14-year-old male, who was watching the basketball game taking place, shot himself in his left leg with a handgun. After the shooting occurred the subject quickly left the scene and witnesses nearby were placed on lockdown. The injured teen was later located in the 6400 block of Desert Queen Avenue. The teen was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center to be treated for his non-life-threatening wounds.
