29 Palms schools out of lockdown, threat determined to be unfounded

Schools near Luckie Park were on lockdown for one hour this afternoon (November 3) after authorities received an unfounded report about a person with a weapon at the park.

Morongo Unified School District announced today just after 2 p.m. that Twentynine Palms Elementary School, Twentynine Palms Junior High School and the +Plus Program were out of a one hour lockdown.

The lockdown was related to a report of a school-age child with a gun at Luckie Park. The report was made to MUSD officials, who notified the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies responded to the park, and their investigation determined that the report was unfounded, and that there was no person with a gun at the park.

The lockdown was lifted at 2:05 p.m., and all staff and students were accounted for.
