Two Twentynine Palms residents were arrested Tuesday for possession of stolen property. Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call for service just before 9 a.m. on October 5 at the 7500 block of Sherman Hoyt Avenue in Twentynine Palms where they located a black 2020 Toyota Camry. The Camry had been reported stolen last Saturday (October 2) from a Budget car rental in Las Vegas. Deputies found two people driving the vehicle; Michael Stewart, 27, and Valarie Robinson, 38. The two suspects attempted to flee in the vehicle and were apprehended shortly after. After some investigation, deputies determined that the two had been living in the vehicle the last few days. Subsequently, both Stewart and Robinson were arrested for suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle. Michael Stewart was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000 for the stolen vehicle, he was also booked on a felony fugitive no bail charge. Valarie Robinson was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail then granted pre-trial release for the stolen vehicle charge.
