29 Palms man arrested for suspected hit and run, DUI

A driver suspected of a hit and run while driving under the influence was arrested in Twentynine Palms early Saturday morning (March 25). At approximately 1:30 a.m., eyewitnesses reported to County Sheriff’s Deputies that a pedestrian was struck by a light colored sedan traveling northbound on Adobe Road in Twentynine Palms. 

Deputies responded to to the scene, though neither the victim nor the suspect were there. Deputies first located the victim, a 23 year-old man from Twentynine Palms, who was walking eastbound on Twentynine Palms Road. Deputies say that he was suffering from minor injuries, and he was transported to a hospital by Morongo Basin Ambulance.

Deputies report that the driver was then located traveling northbound on Adobe Road, identifying him as Cameron Ruff, a 19 year-old resident of Twentynine Palms. Deputies say that Ruff was found to be under the influence of alcohol, and his vehicle had damage consistent with striking the victim.  

Cameron Ruff was arrested at the scene for suspicion of driving under the influence resulting in injury and hit and run, and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail.
