The Lady Trojan basketball team scored an important Desert Valley League win Thursday night beating basin rival 29 Palms HS by a 70-57 score to remain undefeated in league play.
Trailing 43-44 at the start of the fourth quarter – the Yucca girls outscored the visiting Wildcats 27-13 in the final 8 minutes hitting three 3 point baskets to take control of the contest.
Junior Cadence Tarrant scored 10 of her 23 points and senior Malia Ulery scored 11 of her 22 points in the decisive fourth quarter. Senior Ashley Lowe was spectacular off the bench hitting five 3 point baskets and tallying 17 points while sophomore Tayla Monroy added 5 points including a long three point basket at the buzzer to end the third quarter. Sophomore CeCe Gilmore put in 3 points to finish the scoring.
With the win the team improved to 2-0 in DVL action and 7-4 overall. Next week the team travels to Coachella Valley HS on Tuesday, La Quinta HS on Wednesday and returns to Trojan Gum on Thursday with a game against Banning HS.
