29 PALMS JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK VISITORS CENTER MOVING TO FREEDOM PLAZA

The Joshua Tree National Park Association says Monday, May 2nd at 5:00 p.m. will be the end of an era. After decades of service the Twentynine Palms Park Visitors Center at the Oasis of Mara will be relocated to the new Joshua Tree Cultural Center at Freedom Plaza in downtown Twentynine Palms. The new center is located on the south side of Highway 62 between Yucca Ave. and Smoketree Ave. The Downtown revitalization project, known as Project Phoenix, is a collaboration between the city of 29 Palms, The Joshua Tree National Park, local Tribes, and the Bureau of Land Management. The new Joshua Tree National Park information center and bookstore will open Saturday, May 7th at 8:30 a.m. The Park’s visitor bookstores are operated by the Joshua Tree National Park Association (JTNPA). To celebrate, JTNPA will be hosting a free, all-day, family-friendly event! Come and learn about the organization, listen to the singing Ranger and have a chance to win prizes! The opening will coincide with the regular Saturday Farmer’s Market and continue throughout the day. For further information, call 760-361-9359.
