“Art Detour: Hi-Desert Highlights” opens this week at the 29 Palms Art Gallery, with a reception on Sunday, October 5, from 12 to 3 p.m. The exhibition features desert art in all three gallery rooms and will remain on display through Sunday, November 2. “Art Detour: Hi-Desert Highlights” draws attention to 25 of the most important artists currently working in the Hi-Desert. The exhibition pulls together a variety of high-level artists who function in disparate arenas— participants in Art Tours, members of the 29 Palms Art Gallery, artists represented by area galleries, others working independently in relative obscurity, and some who are well-known in other areas of the country but work here in isolation. The public is invited to attend the opening reception and meet the artists this Sunday, October 5, from 12 to 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and admission is free. The 29 Palms Art Gallery is located at 74055 Cottonwood Drive off National Park Drive in Twentynine Palms. The gallery and gift shop are open 12 to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
