Ceramic artist Ed Keesling will teach an Introduction to Raku class at the 29 Palms Art Gallery Tuesdays and Thursdays, for three weeks beginning
July 10. Participants will learn the Raku clay tradition, glazing and firing technology in six sessions. The class is open to beginning and experienced potters, ages 12 through adult. Participants receive Raku clay, glaze materials and necessary tools. The class is from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost is $60 for youth and $90 for adults. There is an additional materials fee of $125 for those who wish to build their own kiln. Members of the 29 Palms Gallery receive a 20 percent discount.
