22 SHOOTERS COMPETE IN INAUGURAL DAV COMPETITION ABOARD MARINE BASE

On a breezy Saturday morning, 22 shooters, ranging in age from 10 to their 70s, competed in the Disabled American Veterans Morongo Basin Chapter #60 inaugural air rifle competition at the Combat Center Rifle Range. The shooters faced down NRA steel animal silhouettes at distances up to 40 yards using customized air rifles. The shoot-out began with a friendly competition between the California DAV Junior Vice Commander Guy Anastasia, and the Combat Center’s Chief of Staff Colonel Jay Wylie, in which Wylie took opening honors for the Combat Center. The Grand Aggregate Champion for the DAV was John Edwards. As the competitors were leaving the range, one was overheard to say: “Are we going to do this again next weekend?” Stay tuned for the announcement of the DAV Morongo Basin Chapter #60 second annual air rifle competition.
