The Morongo Basin is known for its dark skies, and the Andromeda Society’s 20th annual Starry Nights Festival will take full advantage of the billions of stars on view. The festival is Saturday, September 10, from noon to midnight, but come early for the pancake breakfast from 8 to 11, put on by the Yucca Mesa science camp. The Starry Nights Festival includes renowned guest speakers, raffles and vendors. Solar telescopes will allow sky viewing during daylight hours; a star party starts at 7 p.m. The festival will be held at the Yucca Mesa Community Center, 3133 Balsa Avenue, just north of Aberdeen.
