Theatre 29 received 15 nominations by the Desert Theatre League, with only two plays being judged. The Broadway musical production “Ragtime” received nine nominations, including Outstanding Musical; Outstanding Director, (Charles Harvey); Outstanding Musical Director, (Kathryn Ferguson); Outstanding Choreographer, (Mandi Pushkar); Outstanding Lead Actor, (Horace Miller); Outstanding Supporting Actress, (Sadie Johannson); Outstanding Juvenile, (Amanda Mohn); Outstanding Set Design, (Charles Harvey); and Outstanding Props and Special Effects (John Wright). The blockbuster production of “Gypsy” received six nominations, including Outstanding Musical; Outstanding Director (Gary Daigneault); Outstanding Musical Director (Ed Will); Outstanding Lead Actress (Analisa Pilecki); Outstanding Juvenile (Lizzie Schmelling); and Outstanding Sound Design (Michael Nanninga). The 2013 Desert Stars Awards will be awarded in a live ceremony at Sun City Shadow Hills on Sunday, October 6.
