2 ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING INTO THE AIR IN TWENTYNINE PALMS

Two men were arrested Sunday after they shot bullets into the air near their home. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 5900 block of Aztec Avenue in Twentynine Palms just after 6 p.m. by neighbors who said men—later identified as Matthew Billingsley, 21, and Austin Schmidt, 21, had fired guns into the air. Matthew Billingsley and Austin Schmidt were arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, booked into the West Valley Detention Center, with their bail set at $50,000 each.
