19-YEAR-OLD YUCCA VALLEY MAN BURGLARIZES CHURCH

A 19-year-old Yucca Valley man is accused of breaking into a church, eating food, and falling asleep in the church’s kitchen. According to a police report, Caleb Jones forced his way into St. Mary’s Church through a window, then went into the church’s kitchen where he prepared and ate chicken nuggets, ice cream, and soda pop. The report states Jones was going to steal food from the church’s kitchen and take it home to give to his siblings, but he fell asleep on the kitchen counter. Jones was discovered about 9:15 a.m. Sunday morning, and Sheriff’s deputies were called to the church. Deputies determined Jones had also stolen spoons, scissors, and flash cards from the church. Caleb Jones was arrested for investigation of commercial burglary, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
