A 17-year-old Twentynine Palms girl was hospitalized for alcohol poisoning after a party Saturday evening. According to a Sheriff’s report, the girl went to her friend’s home in the 3100 block of Mesquite Springs Road about 9 p.m. where the two girls were home alone. Shortly afterward, the report states people started showing up at the home with alcohol to celebrate a birthday and the girl became extremely drunk. When her brother arrived shortly after 11 p.m. to pick her up, he found the girl passed out in a chair. He took her to Hi-Desert Medical Center where she was diagnosed with alcohol poisoning with a blood alcohol content of .148 and a lowered body temperature. The party guests had dispersed before the friend’s father arrived home about 12:30. The 17-year-old girl’s family notified the Sheriff’s Department, which is investigating.
