A 17-year-old boy was arrested early Friday morning, accused of attempting to rob a convenience store in Yucca Valley. According to the Sheriff’s Department, the boy entered the AM/PM store, located at 58181 29 Palms Highway, about 3:15 a.m. The clerk told deputies the boy brandished an imitation firearm and demanded money. When the clerk refused, the boy, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black cloth over his face, fled northbound, across highway 62. The investigation led deputies to the 6000 block of Camarilla Avenue in Yucca Valley, where the boy—whose name was not released due to his age—was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and on a warrant for a probation violation.
