16-YEAR-OLD STRUCK BY A CAR IN JOSHUA TREE

A juvenile on foot was hit and badly injured by a car in Joshua Tree Tuesday night. According to the California Highway Patrol, Beverly Walker, 41, of Joshua Tree, was driving a 2002 Honda eastbound on Alta Loma Drive about 7 p.m. As she neared Olympic Drive, she struck a 16-year-old boy as he was walking on the side of the road with a group of friends. The boy sustained major injuries and was flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center. The CHP is investigating the collision.
