A teenager got a little more bang than he bargained for when he was playing with some black powder Tuesday. According to the Sheriff’s Department, shortly before 5 p.m. in the 400 block of Mt. Nebo Road in Joshua Tree, a 14-year-old boy poured some loose black powder into an aluminum soda can and then lit the powder with a lighter. The black powder blew up and gave the boy severe flash burns. The boy was taken to Arrowhead Medical Center. The Sheriff’s Department bomb and arson squad is investigating.
