Applications are still being accepted for the 2021-2022 Virtual Academy through the Morongo Unified School District. Reporter Cassidy Taylor has more on the program and how you can sign up…
The Virtual Academy through MUSD is an education model designed for students who want or need a 100% remote learning experience. The Virtual Academy follows the same academic calendar as all other schools in the district with a start date of August 23. All course work is completed through a Virtual Canvas Classroom with no in-person interaction at any school site. The curriculum meets California Standards and some college entrance requirements. Seats in the Virtual Academy are limited. Program requirements, more information, and the application link are available below.
There is an expectation for grade level proficiency in ELA and Math for the program. The program has an asynchronous self-paced portion with established timelines. The secondary program curriculum will use APEX with set course options. Students are required to have reliable high-speed internet.
A district computer device and headset will be provided.
Special Education & English Learners are eligible.
Students must commit to at least one school year at the Virtual Academy.
Hours: Elementary 8:00-2:30/Secondary 7:00-2:00
Benchmarks, interim assessments, & all state standardized tests are mandatory.
Students do not have the option of attending a regular school site for electives like music, CTE or drama during the normal school day.
High school students ARE eligible to participate in any program or activity at their regular school site that occurs AFTER school hours.

Applications will be processed in the order they are received. All applications will be processed through the district’s selection committee and all decisions are final. Applications may take 30 or more days to process. Filling out an application does not guarantee a seat in the Virtual Academy. All applications will be scored based on the likelihood of success of the student in a virtual learning environment. Due to summer break, MUSD has processed their first round of applications and they will not be processing them again until the beginning of August. This is simply because the teachers and staff in charge of approving the applications will be out of the office until August.
