Joshua Tree National Park held its first public climbing meeting last month with about 130 people in attendance. The park focused on some of the key issues—the impact of social trails, bolt use in wilderness, and the protection of significant cultural sites. The public asked questions about the future of bolting in the park, limits on commercial user groups, the role of tribes in the NEPA/NHPA process, and various other questions. The 2-hour Zoom meeting is available for viewing on the Desert Institute YouTube channel.
