Deputies, Sheriff’s Aviation, and tracking dogs went to the crater to search for the boy. Just before 5 p.m., law enforcement officers were contacted by employees from Roy’s Café in Amboy, who said a child had just walked into the store. Deputies determined that it was the missing boy, and he was reunited with his family.

Sheriff’s deputies urge visitors tp Amboy Crater to use extreme caution at the site, as temperatures can become extremely hot, and hikers often become disoriented and lost. Bring food, water, and a fully charged cell phone, and notify family or friends of when you expect to return.
