1 DEAD, 2 CRITICAL AFTER WONDER VALLEY HEAD ON CRASH

One person is dead and two people are critically injured after a head-on crash in Wonder Valley, East of Twentynine Palms Wednesday night. Shortly before 7:30 p.m., Cameron Turner, 19, of Twentynine Palms, was driving westbound on Amboy Road near Shady Lane, in a black Toyota Tacoma, towing another vehicle. A Subaru Outback driven by a 70 year old Twentynine Palms man was driving Eastbound. For unknown reasons, the two vehicles collided head-on. Both cars spun around and ended up facing eastbound on the highway—the Subaru on the south side of the road on a dirt berm, the Toyota in the middle of the road. The driver of the Subaru was pronounced deceased at the scene. Turner and his passenger, Jason Bussell, 22, also of Twentynine Palms, were critically injured. One of them was extricated from the truck using the Jaws of Life. They were taken by Morongo Basin Ambulance and the Combat Center ambulance to the Twentynine Palms Airport and Hi-Desert Medical Center where they were then flown by Mercy Air to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs.
