1 ARRESTED AFTER A JOSHUA TREE CONVENIENCE STORE IS RAMMED

Driving under the influence of drugs is believed to be a factor in a crash in which a man drove his pick-up truck through a Joshua Tree convenience store’s windows Monday afternoon.

Witnesses said that Cody Lang, 25, deliberately drove his white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado through the front windows of the My Goods convenience store at the intersection of Highway 62 and El Reposo Avenue just after 3 p.m.

There were numerous people inside the store at the time, but no one was injured. They said Lang then backed up and drove away north on El Reposo.

Witnesses at the store gave a description of the truck and driver to California Highway Patrol officers, and with the assistance of Sheriff’s deputies, Lang and his truck were soon discovered in a wash near Avenida del Sol, west of Sunburst Avenue, where the truck had become stuck.

Cody Lang was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence, hit and run, and driving with a suspended license. Lang was booked into the West Valley Detention Center, where he was cited and released Tuesday morning.
