YUCCA VALLEY MAN SENTENCED FOR SHOOTING ROOMMATE WITH SHOTGUN

A Yucca Valley man who pleaded guilty last month to assault with a firearm was sentenced yesterday to 150 days in jail. Andrew Hinman, now 45, was arguing with his roommate, Christopher Greco, 41, August 8 in the 57400 block of Chipmunk Trail when Hinman shot Greco once in the arm with a shotgun. Hinman was originally arrested for attempted murder, but accepted a plea bargain June 5 for assault with a firearm and enhancements of using a firearm and gross bodily injury on a person. Greco was treated and released from Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Hinman was sentenced to 150 days in the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center on a weekend/work release program, with credit for 24 days served. A restitution hearing is set for August 29.
