YUCCA VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER LOSE TO XAVIER PREP 5-2

By Adan Mendoza

The Yucca Valley High School Boy’s Varsity soccer team traveled away to Palm Desert for their first preseason game against Xavier Prep, losing 5-2.

They held off the Xavier Saints in the first half, tying 1-1, with senior Seth Snead scoring the first goal for the team, however a few mistakes on defense during the second half cost them the game, with the final score at 5 to 2. Senior goalie Connor Slack was named Player of the Match.

“Though it may seem like a loss, we still walked away in high spirits,” said Varsity Coach Jorge Rodriguez. “We have a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t work — and considering it was our first game as a team… against a school we had lost to 7-0 last year, I think this year’s lineup shows a lot of promise.”

The Trojans will be playing at home against West Shores High School next Tuesday, December 3rd with JV starting at 3pm, followed by varsity at 5pm. Home games will take place at the Brehm Field this year as the YVHS field is getting renovated.
