A Wonder Valley family is homeless after a fire destroyed their home early this morning.
Just after 2 a.m., firefighters from Twentynine Palms, Wonder Valley, Joshua Tree, and the Combat Center were called to Godwin Road for a structure fire. The house was fully involved with flames and smoke when firefighters arrived. The residents of the home were outside waiting when firefighters arrived.
County Fire Battalion Chief Mike McClintock said the fire started outside on the patio and worked its way inside the home. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire, and worked to salvage personal affects inside the home. Due to no local fire hydrants, crews used water tenders to supply water to the fire. There were no injuries. The cause is under investigation.
