The man convicted of shooting his friend in the mouth on a dare was sentenced Friday to 18 years to life. Brock Myers, 25, was horsing around with a gun after a night of drinking with his friend, Steven Kohus, 26, in March 2014 in the 7300 block of Saladin Avenue in Twentynine Palms. Myers and Kohus, were both corporals attached to 1st Battalion, 7th Marines. Kohus said he would give Myers a cigarette lighter if Myers put the gun in Kohus’s mouth and pulled the trigger. Judge Rodney Cortez sentenced Brock Myers to 15 years to life at the state prison in Chino for the murder, with an additional three years for using a gun.
