TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ACCUSED OF HOLDING A TODDLER WHILE THREATENING WITH A SHOTGUN

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Sunday, accused of holding a toddler while he threatened neighbors with a loaded shotgun. According to a Sheriff’s report, Preston Clifton, 19, who lives in one of several houses on a property in the 7400 block of Sherman Hoyt Avenue, went to see his ex-girlfriend who lives in one of the other houses about 4 p.m. Sunday. Following an argument with another resident at the property, Clifton went inside his house to get his shotgun. While standing in his house’s doorway, Clifton loaded the shotgun and chambered a round into the weapon. Standing next to him was his young toddler. Clifton then picked up the child and held her in his arms while he pointed the shotgun at the sky. Preston Clifton was arrested for investigation of child endangerment, and making criminal threats, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
