This evening (March 23), the Twentynine Palms City Council will consider officially supporting SB 39 EDD Fraud Prevention, a bill introduced in the state legislature by Senator Shannon Grove. The bill aims to close a loophole in our state by mandating that the California EDD routinely cross-check records with prison rolls.

The council will also consider authorizing City Manager Frank Luckino to engage National Demographics Corporation (NDC) to provide the demographer services needed to implement the state-mandated review of the city’s voter district map. Estimated cost to the city will not exceed $35,000.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road, and is available for livestreaming and on-demand at the City’s website, 29palms.org.
