TEEN KILLED RIDING THE HOOD OF A CAR IN MORONGO VALLEY SATURDAY NIGHT

UPDATED 9:20 a.m.

One teenager was killed and another injured after they fell off a car they were riding on Saturday night in Morongo Valley. The California Highway Patrol said that two boys, Chase Bottroff, 17, of Morongo Valley, and Brendan Snyder, 16, both of Yucca Valley, were riding on the hood of a 2006 Land Rover LR3 as it was being driven by a 17-year-old boy southbound on Juniper Avenue about 9 p.m. As the vehicle went over a rise in the road south of Pioneer Drive, the boys were thrown from the hood. Bottroff was unconscious when paramedics arrived; he died about three hours later at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Brendan Snyder had moderate injuries; Gabriel Osborne, 16, was riding inside the car and was not injured. The name of the driver is being withheld by the CHP due to his age.
