The Morongo Unified School District Board of Trustees held its regular videoconference board meeting last night. To continue the district’s “no-harm” grading policy for students during the districtwide closure, the board voted to implement a new distance-learning grading policy to help students raise their grades. At last night’s meeting, the MUSD Board of Trustees voted unanimously on a new distance-learning grading policy which will allow students the chance to improve their current grades by completing additional coursework from May 4-29 with the guarantee that their grades will never fall. Alternatively, students will also have the option of either keeping their current grades from before the districtwide closure or petitioning for either a pass/fail or credit/no credit in lieu of a letter grade for select courses.
The board also adopted a policy that clarified working conditions and payment for district employees who are working remotely, announced the completion of the $2.3 million Yucca Valley High School track and field project, discussed contracts for student resource officers, and approved memorandums of understanding with the Morongo Teachers Association and the California School Employees Association.
