A feud between two men over their online gaming consoles escalated and resulted in the arrest of a Morongo Valley man for assault with a deadly weapon early Tuesday morning According to the Sheriff’s Department, Steven Ingersoll, 24, and the other man had been engaging in mutual text message harassment over the past several weeks. About 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Ingersoll drove to the other man’s residence in the 7400 block of Bannock Trail and smashed the rear window of the victim’s girlfriend’s car, which was parked in the driveway. Hearing the noise, the victim and his girlfriend ran out of the house and confronted Ingersoll. Ingersoll got back in his vehicle and intentionally struck the man with the vehicle, and then fled the scene. The victim was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. After an investigation, deputies located Steve Ingersoll in the 9200 block of Navajo Trail in Morongo Valley where he was arrested about 3:45 a.m. on suspicion of felony vandalism and assault with a deadly weapon, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
