MOTORCYCLE RIDER HITS A MOUNTAIN LION ON YUCCA GRADE

UPDATED 12:05 P.M.
A motorcycle rider who hit a mountain lion early Friday morning was injured in the crash. Morongo Valley firefighters were called to the bottom of the Yucca Grade near the shooting range about 1 a.m. The unidentified rider said he hit a mountain lion. The rider complained of back pain and was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs where a friend said he was diagnosed with a broken back.
Witnesses have told Z107.7 News that a woman driving a Honda Civic had hit the mountain lion head-on prior to the motorcycle’s arrival. Before witnesses could move the lion out of the way, the motorcycle rider hit it. The lion then was moved off the road.
