A Morongo Valley man was arrested Monday, accused of attempted murder of his neighbor. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to the Valley View Mobile Manor in the 10800 block of West Drive about 9:50 p.m. for a report of an assault. Deputies found that Robert Trevino, 62, had had his jugular vein slashed with a straight razor and was bleeding profusely. Trevino was taken to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs for surgery. Deputies learned that the suspect in Trevino’s assault was his neighbor, Paulo Franco, 53. According to the Sheriff’s report, Trevino and Franco were arguing in Franco’s driveway when Trevino pushed Franco to the ground and punched him twice. Franco managed to get up and slashed Trevino in the neck and chest. Paulo Franco was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $1 million. Robert Trevino’s surgery was a success and he is expected to make a full recovery.
