FOUR TONS OF MARIJUANA SEIZED IN FIVE TWENTYNINE PALMS RAIDS THURSDAY

Two Twentynine Palms men were arrested, and more than four tons of marijuana were eradicated in raids on five Twentynine Palms locations Thursday. According to the Sheriff’s Department, deputies served a search warrant at an illegal marijuana grow near Emerald Street and Pine Springs Avenue April 16 and seized 476 marijuana plants. Deputies returned to the same location Thursday, April 29 and found the site had been replanted with another 466 plants. Deputies also went to locations in the 73500 block of Two Mile Road, Dunlap Road, and Redhill Road, and seized more than 1800 illegal marijuana plants. Arrested for investigation of illegal cultivation of marijuana were Pai Sivilay, 67, and Somkhit Sivilay, 35, who were cited and released.

During the last two weeks, deputies have served 15 search warrants at illegal marijuana cultivation sites in the Morongo Basin. Further eradication efforts are planned.
