FOUR INJURED IN HEAD-ON CRASH EAST OF TWENTYNINE PALMS SUNDAY

Four people were hospitalized following a head-on crash east of Twentynine Palms Sunday afternoon. Two cars—a 2006 silver Toyota Camry, driven by William Bruns, 57, of Long Beach, and a 2014 white Nissan Maxima driven by Paola Gonzalez, 23, of Moreno Valley—crashed head-on near Iron Age Road and Highway 62 about 1 p.m. yesterday. Twentynine Palms firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate Patricia Cruz, 23, from the Nissan, and Albert Bruegger, 55, from the Toyota; they were then flown by Mercy Air to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Gonzalez and Bruns, were taken by ambulance to Desert Hospital. William Bruns and Albert Bruegger have been released from the hospital.
