San Bernardino County's largest district, our district, has a new representative on the board of supervisors. Following an arduous selection process, the board of supervisors yesterday selected Dawn Rowe of Yucca Valley to serve the remaining 23 months of James Ramos’ term. Ramos stepped down as third district county supervisor following his election to the state assembly representing the 40th district. After interviewing six finalists and tallying votes, the board called a five-minute recess to allow Rowe time to resign her current position as a top aide to U.S. Congressman Paul Cook. Minutes later Rowe was administered the oath of office. Rowe's third district encompasses 11 cities and 25 unincorporated areas and stretches from the Morongo Basin to Big Bear, Barstow to San Bernardino. Far from being a stranger to public service, Rowe previously sat on the Yucca Valley Town Council and served as Yucca Valley mayor as well. Rowe’s first full meeting on the dais will be January 8, 2019.
