BUSINESS PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX DEADLINE EXTENDED

San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder Bob Dutton announced a new tax filing deadline to help small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 crisis to avoid tax penalties. Governor Newsom’s Executive Order extends the deadline for certain businesses to file Business Personal Property Statements to Monday, June 1, to avoid state-mandated penalties. The California Revenue and Taxation Code requires that every person who owns, claims, possesses, or controls business property (i.e., machinery and equipment, office furniture, computers, etc.) valued in excess of $100,000 on January 1 of each year, to file a property statement. All businesses in California are required to file their business personal property with their County Assessor by May 7 every year.
