Homicide detectives were called to investigate a suspicious death after a burning body was found in northeast Joshua Tree Friday morning. At 8:49 a.m., county firefighters were called to a fire at Sunway Road and Rosehedge Avenue in Joshua Tree near the Sunfair Dry Lake bed. When firefighters arrived, they found an obviously dead body that had been set on fire. Firefighters secured the scene and called for Sheriff’s deputies. Because of unspecified evidence found at the scene, deputies notified the department’s homicide investigators. Deputies are working to identify the male victim as well as any witnesses.
