Yucca Valley Transient Occupancy Tax increase goes into effect on Jan. 1

Voters overwhelmingly approved Measure K, Yucca Valley’s Transient Occupancy Tax Rate increase from 7% to 12%, during the November 2022 election. The additional tax will apply to all lodging stays––short-term vacation rentals, hotels, and motels and will go into effect on January 1, 2023.

An increase in tourism and local growth means an increase in road maintenance, street, sidewalk, and critical infrastructure ongoing repairs. The passage of Measure K will provide funding for this maintenance and enable the Town to maintain a high caliber of services, including police and 9-1-1 response times, maintenance on public green spaces, and programming for youths and seniors. The increased tax will also give the Town financial resources to continue promoting Yucca Valley as a preferred tourist destination. The Town invites input from local businesses on effective outreach to the tourism market.
