Housekeeping is on the agenda for the Yucca Valley Town Council. Here is reporter Adeline J. Wells with that and more on tonight’s meeting.
The Yucca Valley Town Council meeting will kick off with the Council’s review of the 2024-2025 Youth Commission appointees, as nominated by the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Commission. Each year, the Town appoints individuals in grades 7 through 12 to serve on the Youth Commission, which advises the PRCC on youth-related issues. This year, the Town received 25 applications from eight different schools.
The Council will then tie up loose ends regarding the 2023-2024 Fiscal Year Budget. First, they will receive and file the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, which is an audit of the Town’s annual financial statements. This will be followed by a review of the Year End Budget Report and Related Reserve Policy Allocations, which summarizes the Town’s fiscal performance.
Following updates on the Aquatic and Recreation Center and the Hi-Desert Nature Museum, the Council will consider a resolution amending the budget and awarding the construction bid for Phase 2 of the Yucca Valley Senior Center Modernization project. While Phase 1 included updates to the kitchen, Phase 2 includes renovating the staff offices, the reception area, and restrooms. The Council approved plans and specifications for the second phase at their meeting on October 1; construction is expected to be completed by August 2025.
The Town Council will also receive the Land Development Update.
Tonight’s meeting is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
