After awarding the “Spirit of Yucca Valley” Award to Bob Stephenson and recognizing departing employees Jerry Mc Pheeters and Megan Snyder, the Council reviewed and approved the design plans presented by HMC Architects for the Yucca Valley Aquatics center to be built by 2024.
The Council approved the consent agenda, including plans to construct the Onaga Trail Pedestrian Improvements Project and the Little League Pedestrian Improvements Project. The Council approved the contract with Eco-Fert Inc. and the donation from Ms. Michelle Maresh and the Tri-Valley Little League Organization.
Staff noted that the slurry seal application is scheduled to start on Wednesday, June 29. A list of streets is available on the town website.
Finally, town manager Curtis Yakimow, who attended the June 15 and 16 meetings of the California Fish and Game Commission, relayed that the Commissioners were deadlocked on whether to list the western Joshua tree as a threatened species and pushed the decision to the October meeting. Yakimow suggested the Yucca Valley Town Council take the matter under consideration for the best way to proceed until a decision is made.
The next Yucca Valley Town Council meeting is July 19.
