The Yucca Valley Town Council meets in regular session tonight to consider extensions for a number of policies.
Following a project update by the Hi-Desert Water District, the Yucca Valley Town Council will host a Public Hearing related to its moratorium on senior mobile home park conversions. The issue came before the Town Council late last year when the new owners of the Gates of Spain mobile home park wanted to allow residents of all ages to move into the seniors-only park. In January, following community input, the Town Council voted to install a moratorium on any conversions from the town’s six seniors-only mobile home parks until November 24, 2024. Town Staff recommends that the Council extend that moratorium for another year, allowing the Town more time to study a potentially permanent zoning ordinance related to the issue.
The Council will then consider two resolutions that would include the reauthorization of tax measures Measures Y and Z on the ballot for November’s election. Both tax Measures were approved by voters in 2016, to be in place for ten years. The Town would like to reinstate both measures for an additional ten years, through the end of March 2037.
The Town Council will also receive the annual Building & Safety report.
Tonight’s meeting is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
