Yucca Valley Town Council meeting to include public hearing on waste handling charges

Housekeeping is on the docket for the Yucca Valley Town Council.

The Yucca Valley Town Council will hold a public hearing regarding the placement of solid waste handling service charges on the property tax roll for the upcoming fiscal year. In accordance with California State Senate Bill 1383 which mandates the recycling of organic matter, the Town of Yucca Valley had been working with Burrtec to phase in cost increases over several years. However, Burrtec’s tax roll billing rate for the first year of services is at a lower percentage increase than anticipated. Residents are invited to provide public comment on the issue before a Council vote to incorporate the charges on the tax roll.

The Town Council will also hear a report on commercial special events, swap meets, and parking lot sales. The Town has existing regulations that specify the length, type, and location of commercial special events; the Council will review these and provide the necessary direction as to whether they require additional specification.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
