Yucca Valley Town Council meeting: Capital Improvement Plan, Fall/Winter activities, Measures Y and Z

The Yucca Valley Town Council will receive reports regarding upcoming initiatives, starting with the town’s Capital Improvement Plan. This five-year plan was presented to the Planning Commission at their June 25 meeting. It details the status of different public infrastructure projects, including the Aquatics and Recreation Center, the Old Town Beautification and Sustainability Project, the slurry/crack seal project, and more. The Town Council is expected to adopt the program through the end of the 2029/2030 fiscal year.

The Council will also receive a report from the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Commission that details their upcoming activities for Fall and Winter. These include special events, enrichment classes, public art initiatives, senior programs, and sports and fitness offerings. This report will be followed by a presentation from CalRecycle regarding the successful completion of a Corrective Action Plan for SB1383, known organics recycling bill. Yucca Valley, like many other California municipalities, was unable to execute the program by the state deadline of January 1, 2022. The town has since rolled out the program to CalRecycle’s standards.

Lastly, the Town Council will receive the Town Resident Report on Measures Y and Z. This report was created by Town Staff to inform residents how the funds have been raised and used for Yucca Valley.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
