Yucca Valley Town Council Meeting approved the Public Art Policy and reviewed the Demographic Study

At last night’s Town Council Meeting, the council filed and reviewed a highly informative Demographic study from economist John E. Husing Ph.D., and approved the Public Art policy.

Last’s night meeting was packed with information, first from Economist Dr. John Husing’s Demographic Study, which compared Yucca Valley’s growth to that of similar towns in the area. Then, in comprehensive charts, Dr. Husing broke down the growth and decline of Yucca Valley statistics and contributing factors that will aid the Town in future forecasting and development. The Town Council also reviewed and filed an update of professional communication services received from Tripepi Smith, brought on to update the Town’s communication, and outreach in 2021.

Lastly, the council reviewed and filed the recommendation to approve and fund the 2022 Public Art Policy for $50,000 and Public Art Pilot Program for $50,000.

The report included ethnicity, adult education levels, job growth, employment distribution by sector, and education and poverty levels. Then, in comprehensive charts, Dr. Husing broke down the growth and decline of Yucca Valley statistics and contributing factors in future forecasting and development.

Conclusions about Yucca Valley:

Yucca Valley is an edge city in and out of Phase 1 of a growth cycle. Housing increases when nearby markets become increasingly unaffordable. The Town Council also reviewed and filed an update of professional communication services received from Tripepi Smith, brought on to update the Town’s communication, and outreach in 2021. Tripepi and Smith, along with town staff, has redesigned the Town’s website and designed and created press releases, articles, emails, and podcast, focusing on content and distribution.

The council also reviewed and filed the recommendation to approve and fund the 2022 Public Art Policy for $50,000 and Public Art Pilot Program for $50,000.

Also noted are the Town’s ongoing efforts to reduce abandoned shopping carts around Town by working with code enforcement, stores, and a private Cart retrieval company. The charges for the clean-up are being billed back to the stores on a monthly or quarterly basis.
