At Tuesday night’s meeting, the Yucca Valley Town Council will take another step towards developing a farmer’s market within the town. A 2023 survey indicated strong community support for a farmer’s market amongst Yucca Valley residents, with 94% of respondents expressing interest in the event. Over the last year, the Council has worked with the Planning Commission to establish new parameters for various pop-up events, including sidewalk sales, swap meets, and farmer’s markets. With the ordinance being passed at the meeting on January 21, Town Staff requests that the Council provide initial direction regarding guidelines for a farmer’s market; items to consider include location and schedule, vendor selection, and operational management.
Following a review of the Hi-Desert Nature Museum’s Strategic Plan, the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Commission will present their recommendation for a new art installation. As part of the town’s Public Art Program, the PRCC has created a rotating temporary art installation at Library Plaza, which aims to embed public art in high-traffic, visible areas throughout the community. The Commission’s recommendation for this year’s installation is by Chad La Fever; if approved, his work will be on display through November.
This week’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2025, at 5 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
