Yucca Valley recreation classes and events to keep you moving all winter

The Town of Yucca Valley Parks and Rec department has some classes this winter to keep you moving and active.

They have brought back their Adult HILO Class, following the resounding success of the fall session. It started on January 4th and the program is running for 10-weeks, combining invigorating high-intensity workouts with low-impact movements.

The classes have a convenient drop-in rate of $10 and welcomes individuals of all fitness levels, with no prior experience is necessary. Those classes will be held every Thursday at 5:30PM at the Yucca Valley Community Center Yucca Room.

In addition to the Hilo class, the Yucca Valley community is gearing up for the annual Healthy Hearts 5K Run and 2K Walk, scheduled for March 23rd at the recently reopened Essig Park. The event, now a staple in the community, kicks off at 9 a.m. and promises a morning filled with fun, fitness, and community spirit. Early birds can take advantage of a $20 pre-registration fee through March 14th, while regular registration is available for $25 up to the day of the event. Pre-registered participants will receive a commemorative shirt and race souvenir.

And the Yucca Valley Community Center is also home of 3 different dance classes. First up, learn the graceful dances from Hawaii and Tahiti with the Polynesian dance class. Students will focus on basic steps, posture, and coordination of hands and feet. There will also be a Belly Dancing class where you can learn the ancient art and develop flexibility. Rounding out the offerings is a Bollywood Dance class where you can get into the groove and bob like a bollywood beauty to the hottest indian movie soundtracks. Each of the classes is $8 a session and available for participants 18 years and older.

You can find a full schedule of classes and registration information for any of these activities at the Town of Yucca Valley Recreation Department.
