Yucca Valley Planning Commission to consider two town upgrades, swap meets

As part of their conversations around improving the town’s appearance, the Yucca Valley Planning Commission will consider guidelines for special events and parking lot sales.

The Yucca Valley Planning Commission will consider two renovation applications. The Tiny Pony Tavern has applied for a 533-square-foot covered patio expansion to their current outdoor space, which would include 20 additional seats and parking to accommodate the upgrade. The Town is also moving ahead with Phase 2 of the Improvement Plan for the Senior Center. Phase 1 included upgrading essential kitchen equipment, and was completed in August 2022. Phase 2 involves the renovation of staff offices, restrooms, lobby, and an ADA pedestrian pathway from Antelope Trail to the Senior Center.

The Planning Commission will also discuss regulations that govern commercial special events, parking lot sales, and swap meets. The Yucca Valley Town Council discussed the issue at a meeting held on May 21, where the Council provided public commentary on current regulations for the review of the Planning Commission. The topic is part of a series of discussions centered around improving Yucca Valley’s appearance, notably that of Highway 62.

Lastly, the Planning Commission will receive the Land Development Update.

Tonight’s meeting is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. at the Yucca Valley Community Center.
